WAYS TO VOLUNTEER

There are so many ways to volunteer with Memorial PTO. We have jobs that are as big or small as you have time for. There are opportunities during the school day, after school, in the evening, on weekends and even things you can do from home!

Because volunteers work with children, all volunteers are required to submit a Criminal Offender Records Information (CORI) application and undergo a background check.

You can read up on the Memorial PTO Bylaws here.

PTO Bylaws
Teacher and Staff Appreciation

Volunteers are needed to coordinate this event to help show our appreciation to the staff at Memorial School. This event is held in May and is typically a breakfast or luncheon.

Fundraising

Volunteers are needed to collect, sort, and distribute fundraising items throughout the year.

Book Fairs

Volunteers are needed to help students pick out books during their book fair time.  We typically like to staff between 3-5 parents per class depending on the grade. Please feel free to volunteer for your child’s library time.  You can also volunteer to help other classrooms, too.

Book Fair Committee

The book fair committee is comprised of 3-6 individuals who are responsible for the planning, set-up, break down and running of the fair. Main duties include running the cash registers at the fair. You do not need to be present every day at the fair but we ask that you try to make the commitment to be present for one full fair day. Members joining in the fall are not expected to run the Fall book fair on their own but will use it more as a learning experience for the Spring Fair.

Cultural Arts Volunteers

Volunteers are needed to help this committee with special programs brought into the school.

Kindergarten Play Date

Volunteers are needed to help run the Kindergarten play date in August for incoming Kindergarteners.  Play date consists of outdoor playtime, a story read by Principal Bell, and a fun craft.

Kindergarten Play Date Coordinator

The coordinator is responsible for the overall planning of the play date in conjunction with the Kindergarten play date volunteers and the administration.

Library

Volunteers are needed to help Mrs. Gale in the library throughout the year. Responsibilities include shelving books, changing the library display case and any other projects Mrs. Gale may need.  Commitments can be once a week, once every other week or TBD.

Rt. 140 Sign Updaters

Volunteers are needed to keep the Rt. 140 sign updated with messages from the school and PTO.

Photographers

Photographers are needed to take pictures at PTO and school sponsored events for the Memorial Yearbook. Volunteers will also work with the publicity coordinator to get photos for any news articles. Photographers will work in conjunction with the PTO to create the Yearbook.

PTO Bakers

Volunteers are needed to send in baked goods for a variety of PTO and school events throughout
the year.

School Pictures

Volunteers are needed to help with school pictures taken in the fall.  This fun and easy job consists of watching kids in line, handing out new combs, helping to comb hair, making sure faces are clean, and throwing out used combs.

If you would like to volunteer for any of these positions, please contact
Volunteer Coordinator, Erin Padula, here.
